I admit that manual retopology of hard surface panels is by far the cleanest way to model for Film/Comercials that use all quad Sub-D topology. However, it is time consuming. I have been testing a workflow that relies heavily on ZBrush ZRemesher and masking to produce the same visual result in a fraction of the time. It also holds sharp corners much better than the ZBrush PanelLoops alternative.
First two minutes is a time lapse showcasing the workflow. Then a tutorial covering the process. ZBrush polygroup/ZRemesher, Maya custom bevel, getting rid of pinching at corners, and a clean auto UV seams for production.
